This November, Jakob Bro is back in Tokyo with two of his long time collaborators Anders Christensen and Jorge Rossy, all three recently part of the cast on “Once Around The Room” an album and still active band dedicated to the master drummer-composer and mentor Paul Motian.
Spanish drummer Jorge Rossy is well known to jazz fans on both sides of the Atlantic, particularly for his decade-plus tenure in Brad Mehldau’s career-making first trio and from touring with some jazz greats like Wayne Shorter, Carla Bley, Charlie Haden and many others.
Although widely recognised as one of the influential drummers of his generation, Jorge Rossy also has a distinctive voice on the vibes, marimba and piano, and a unique sound as a composer with over 30 albums as a band leader or co-leader. Jorge Rossy is also a part of Jakob Bro’s UMA ELMO with Arve Henriksen and their trio with Larry Grenadier.
Jakob and Anders Christensen have played together for more than 20 years and curiously developed the jazz trio with special guests Brian Blade, Joe Lovano, Tom Harrell, Lee Konitz and toured extensively with Paul Motian and Tomasz Stanko together.”
